RuPaul's Drag Race: RuCo's Empire

After the awkwardness that was last week's forced double-elimination and phone call, we were so excited to hear who was coming back, weren't we?

No.

Anyway, the mini-challenge this week was to dress up like a supreme justice and sashay.

My favourites:
Bob the Drag Queen

Acid Betty

And of course: Thorgy Thor

Then we were treated to the reveal of who was back!

Naysha Lopez!!

The queens actually reacted way better than the TV show made out from the interviews:
Even Acid Betty smiled and cheered!

Naysha and Naomi got to choose teams, and so they shaped up like this:

Acid Betty, Kim Chi, Thorgy Thor, Derrick Barry, Naysha Lopez

Naomi Smalls, Robbie Turner, Bob The Drag Queen, Chi Chi DiVayne and Cynthia Lee Fontaine!!

Bicker, bicker bicker, drama llamas ahoy and some practising and they were in front of non-other than Faith Evans to film (she also sat the runway)

And can I say that I LOVED Ru's outfit this week. So 80s and so spargles. mmmm

On to the Queens outfits, which is all I'm sure you're here for anyway!

Naysha Lopez

Thorgy Thor

Derrick Barry

Kim Chi

Acid Betty

Naomi Smalls

Bob The Drag Queen

Cynthia Lee Fontaine

Chi Chi DeVayne

Robbie Turner

The acting challenge was pretty fun - it was obvious from the beginning that Bob was going to win; she had the exact style and attitude that was needed, and even my beloved Thorgy didn't come close!

From the clips they showed though, there were quite a lot that were pretty terrible, Betty, Derrick, Naomi, Naysha, Robbie and Cynthia.

At the end of the day, Cynthia and Robbie lip-synched and Cynthia Lee Fontaine unfortunately had to Sashay Away. And on that, here are this week's nails:

A roller skate on red, a sparkly cowboy hat, jewelled red and red fishnet.

AND EXTRA BONUS: This is the first time any of my nails have been noticed by a queen!!! Cynthia Lee Fontaine cements her position as the NICEST this season so far by following me on instagram and liking and commenting on my nails. Bless her Cucu.

I legitimately feel like I can't go any further than that. I kinda hope that Thorgy notices me, but obviously only on finals week, when she wins this motherfucker <3 <3 <3

RuPaul's Drag Race: Bitch Perfect

I'm so so glad this is back, I'm really excited each and every week - I think this season is starting so much better than last year already.

After some shade from Naomi and with last week's close escape ringing in her ears, Laila McQueen reflected on her performance and vowed to stand out. We've never heard that before...

Next morning, Ru turned up with AB Soto and some thrift clothes, challenging the girls to have a Dance-Off!

My personal favourites:

Laila McQueen

Thorgy Thor

Chi-Chi and Cynthia won the challenge, and picked girls for an Acapella Lip-synching challenge!

Lady Bitches vs Shady Bitches, I won't go too much into the ins-and-outs because I'm sure you watched it! Needless to say there was shade and drama and Ru came and threw them off their game. Standard.

On to the show and BAM, two well-turned-out groups of queens:

L-R: Derrick, Cynthia, Laila, Bob, Kim, Robbie

L-R: Chi-Chi, Dax, Thorgy, Betty, Naomi.

My favourites in that part were, well basically all of the Shady Bitches. Honestly, they were way more animated and original.

Robbie was lucky that her part was written funny, because outside of the baritone parts, she did nothing special. Bob's wig was so basic, Cynthia, I forgot she was even there and Kim Chi was a mess from start to finish. No-one says "We'll show you what's up" and points up, honestly. While she obviously stepped out of her comfort zone, the girl can't lip synch, can't dance, can't walk in heels - aside from look fucking fab-u-lous what does she do?

Onto the catwalk!
Category is: Movie Premiere Realness

Cynthia - standard and safe. It's a basic gown. Next!

Bob The Drag Queen - That see-through gown is stunning but the accessories a little boring. More bling on the wrists/hands?

Derrick - When she's not perfecting Britney there's just nothing special? I don't know, I'm not feeling her.

Laila McQueen - I loved the look but it made her look thick in the middle? Also, that hair colour with that green? Not a fan.

Robbie Turner - wonderful gown, wonderful hair, Great look overall, very polished.

Kim Chi - Loved the silhouette, loved the white wig, love the Nails forever.

Chi-Chi - Very basic but stunning on her

Naomi - "The Face is Right..." outta a horror movie. I tried to get a good pic but her face was scowling the entire time. Also, second week in a row for those cliffhangers.

Acid Betty - Serving Marie Antoinette meets Annie Lennox. That ugly bottom half and the bum was all saggy.

Dax - I loved what she was trying to do with this but it just... didn't?

Thorgy Thor - She looked relaxed and happy the entire time and stood out for all the right reasons! I'm so in love and I need that jumpsuit pattern, please!

Now for the killer - Laila and Dax ended up in a sing off (Kim Chi narrowly missed that one) and they BOTH got told to Sashay.

Ru then called someone and asked them to pack? Who will it be? We'll find out tomorrow

My issue is that this was pre-ordained. Neither of the girls had a chance to stay, it's so staged. They had already decided that they were both going and someone was coming back. I really wish I couldn't see behind the curtain, Ru!

So, I have a RuPaulish for both Dax and Laila!

Dax:
Revlon Chroma Chameleon Aquamarine over Revlon Top Speed Guest List, with a gold flash in Revlon Chroma Chameleon Rose Gold. Accent nail is Jess Gel Effect Snow Queen with Sally Hanson Complete Salon in Ion for the shadows and Revlon Top Speed 390 Crystal Glow for the flower stem.

Laila:
Revlon Coast is Clear for the pointer and pinky, with placed glitter from Sally Hanson Complete Salon in Over The Rainblue, center nails are Revlon Colorstay 270 Stiletto with Nfu-Oh 056 Green Flakies sponged on with taped sides.

Who's your favourite so far? I'm so in love with Thorgy Thor I can't even tell you. I've never seen a queen this relaxed since Raja!

Gentlemen, Start your Season 8!

Oh My God, I don't even know where to go with this! It's Season 8, Episode 1, Overall Episode 100 of RuPaul's Drag Race! I've been waiting for this for an entire year!!!

We start the race with 12 queens, all stunning in their entrances!

Acid Betty

Bob The Drag Queen

Chi Chi DeVayne

Cynthia Lee Fontaine

Dax ExclamationPoint

Derrick Barry

Kim Chi

Laila McQueen

Naomi Smalls

Naysha Lopez

Robbie Turner

Thorgy Thor

The ladies did a magazine shoot with 7 of the previous 8 winners (including Chad in that there lineup, like the fierce queen she is, but Bianca couldn't make it)
L-R: Violet, Chad, Bebe, Raja, Sharon, Jinkx, Tyra, a Clown

Each of them had to pose, with some doing much better than others, Kim Chi was perfection in that outfit:
Kim Chi takes centre stage

whereas Chi Chi looked... stunted.

Due to post-processing and timelines they had to use another way to choose someone to 'win' the first mini challenge, so Morgan McMichaels 'popped' along and...
It's a Boy!!!!! Robbie Turner to be exact

Robbie had to assign looks from previous episodes to the others, and they were assigned thusly:

L-R: Money Ball from Violet went to Acid Betty
Pride Floats from Latrice went to Naomi
Drag on a Dime from Shannel went to Naysha

L-R: Post Apocalyptic Couture from Chad goes to Layla
Glitterball from Tyra goes to Chi Chi
Sugar Ball from Jinkx Goes to Cynthia

L-R: Hello Kitty Couture from Hello Kitty goes to Dax!
Hair Ball from Bebe goes to Kim Chi
Cake Couture from Raja goes to Thorgy

Gone with the Window from Raven went to Bob

The Queen that Mopped Christmas went to Derrick

The Bitch Ball from Sharon Needles went to Robbie Turner! I saw him forgetting to choose himself something right from the beginning - it's gotta be a lot of pressure to assign 12 themes!!

Real Talk: I still can't believe that girls go on this show and can't sew. The second you're invited, you learn to sew sew sew. It's been challenges each season and at least 2 of them were having mini-meltdowns and unable to sew. That said, most of them did amazingly well!

My personal Top 3 of these outfits:
Layla McQueen

Kim Chi

Bob The Drag Queen

Layla being a contentious choice, I really felt that she the look was new and that it stayed with her aesthetic. That fucking jacket she sewed, I want one.

Kim Chi showed us what I think will probably win the season, killer makeup and ingenious style.

Bob was classic, with the rings from the top being incorporated and the skirt and bodice flowing perfectly.

At the end of the day, one queen has to leave, and tonight it was Naysha Lopez who sashayed away

Naysha Lopez does Drag on a Dime

What a mistake, telling us that it was your first dress, showing your illusion underwear and in the opening moments of your outfit, showing us your tuck!

And so, RuPaulish Season 8 starts with a dark green with dice print nail, with a sponged on glitter highlight.

Astor 601 Deep Green, Essence Stampy 001 White, Make Up Gallery 35 Precious Gold and MoYou Nail Art Image Plate B39, using my clear squishy stamper

Who are your favourites? Who do you think should've been out? Was Cynthia Lee Fontaine REALLY that basic, wearing a terribly made sweet corset upside down? Did you notice Dax! making an Empire Records quote?

I'm so glad it's back!
